I think the Axis is nifty, but it is the antithesis of the rifles I normally shoot. The Axis lacks the refined construction and high end parts of a custom rifle, but it allows new shooters to enter the sport for a reasonable amount of money. The rifle, as configured with a Harris bipod and Leupold Mark 4 for initial testing is shown above. As noted in my review , the factory trigger and stock needed help. Timney provided an excellent aftermarket trigger that reduced the rough 7 pound 6. Used in the final stages of the initial review , the trigger greatly improved the firing characteristics of the rifle. Fixing the stock and magazine system required a little more thought.

The second problem isn't quite so easy. Please tell me there's an easy fix for this?

The aluminum V-bedding block features reinforced steel pillars to prevent compression and deformation while shooting. The buttstock and forend have integral sling swivel studs for use with a variety of slings and bipods. The buttstock has removable half-inch spacers for LOP adjustment and snap-on cheek risers with adjustable comb height. Some may say that's too light for hunting but that's how I personally like it. Yep, was going to recommend the same. The may be better for others. I would just use a dremmel, trim a little off until it catches above the plastic, check to see how a bullet in the mag lines up with the bolt. Insert the Magazine into the Rifle. Mine is an Axis II, with the accutrigger. It still happens. I would load the magazine install it in the rifle, close the bolt and seat a round. Typical issues for that are action screws that are too far up into the receiver or scope mount screws that are too long. Most of the Axis mag problems I've had involved the clip not fully riding over the mating surface in the stock. Yes, had the same problem. Fixing the stock and magazine system required a little more thought. Might make it harder to latch and unlatch but it would probably be just enough to keep it in place. I have no solution, just remember to push up on the bottom of the magazine after firing each round, which is a simple solution. First post here.

The second problem isn't quite so easy. If it ain't broke don't fix it. This has been caused either by the mating surface in the stock extending too far back into the magwell common on Boyds stocks or something on the rear of the magwell or magazine itself that doesn't completely interfere with the rear tab lock up but also holds it too far forward for the plastic latch to compress enough to lock up in the front. It shoots better than I do, usually under 2" at yds and less than 5" at yd. For that price I could buy another Weatherby Vanguard.
