Like, a year ago late first seeing the excellent anime and then read the manga from there on through. I came to learn and love the characters, and started to invest in the series and then I saw how terrible a coach Komogawa is and sadly, how ultimately terrible Ippo had become as a protagonist. You can argue all day about his training, hard work and dedication making him a good protagonist but he failed in the end with a series by design meant for him to succeed through said, training, hard work and dedication.

Then think about how long this series has dragged for 20 years and with his health issues, we'll never see Takamura with his foreshadowed eye injury make it to the rest of the weight classes or Aoki get revenge on Iga, or Sendo try and face Martinez, who Ippo was on track to face eventually, or Ippo fight Miyata officially.
