Re:Zero began as a free web novel written by Tappei Nagatsuki. The first three arcs were covered by the first season of the anime; maturemaduras the anime adapted the Light Novel version, which in turn was adapted from the Web Novel version, re zero arco 1. Unaware of what happened just now, Natsuki Subaru finds himself being summoned to a new and mysterious world. There, in the Kingdom of Lugunica , he believes that he is the protagonist, the hero to-be. However, that isn't the case. He soon finds himself being beaten by thugs, but is saved.

Re zero arco 1

When Subaru Natsuki leaves the convenience store, the last thing he expects is to be wrenched from his everyday life and dropped into a fantasy world. Things are not looking good for the bewildered teenager; however, not long after his arrival, he is attacked by some thugs. Armed with only a bag of groceries and a now useless cell phone, he is quickly beaten to a pulp.
