Although Rauru has an important part to play in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom , being the first king of Hyrule and the Source of the Right Arm, little else is known about him. The name Rauru has also appeared in other titles in the series, leading fans to question the connection between the character and these references. Rauru first appears to Link as a spirit , acting as a guide as he completes the Shrines of Light on the Great Sky Island. Link also learns that his new right arm once belonged to Rauru. Ganondorf murdered Sonia, stealing her Secret Stone to amplify his strength. In a last attempt to protect Hyrule, Rauru sacrificed himself to save his kingdom and seal away Ganondorf , knowing that Link would continue to fight for Hyrule in the future.

Rauru is mentioned very early on in the opening scenes in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and the name might be familiar to you. Rauru is a character in the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but he has also appeared in the Zelda series previously. Rauru is first mentioned in Tears of the Kingdom during an opening prologue cutscene in which a decayed Demon King is seemingly freed of his mystical restraints, a singular arm. He says to Link, "Rauru placed his faith in you You'll eventually meet Rauru, or at least, an incarnation of him soon after right before beginning The Closed Door. You can watch that cutscene below. It turns out, Rauru is one of the Zonai people, and was once the owner of Link's new right arm that had sealed The Demon King away. Eventually, you will learn that Rauru was once the King of Hyrule, and is in fact the founder of the kingdom alongside a Hyrulian woman. He worked with the five other sages in the past to seal away the Demon King, also known as Ganondorf.

Ocarina of Time. Sacred Realm Temple of Light. After Link wakes up from his seven-year slumber, he encounters Rauru in the Sacred Realm. Rauru proceeds to explain why Link was trapped in there for seven years, and also tells him that while he slept, Ganondorf had free access to the Sacred Realm and consequently to the Triforce. He then gained the power to take over Hyrule.

Rauru , [1] also known as Kaepora Gaebora when in his owl form , is a recurring character in The Legend of Zelda series. During the Era of Chaos and shortly before the Kingdom of Hyrule was established by the link royal descendants of the goddess Hylia 's mortal incarnation , Rauru built the Temple of Time over the remains of the Sealed Temple that was located deep within the Faron Woods in the Faron Province. In doing this, he protected the Triforce from the chaotic Interloper War being fought over its ownership at the time. After Link defeats Gohma in a failed attempt to save the Great Deku Tree , he leaves the Kokiri Forest and has his first encounter with Rauru, who awaits him in his owl form as Kaepora Gaebora at the edge of the woods.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom introduces a new race, a tribe called the Zonai, and a mysterious new character named Rauru. The Zonai were previously hinted at in Breath of the Wild , but the tribe and Rauru play a very important role in the Tears of the Kingdom. The Zonai are an ancient race that, according to Zelda, were once a prosperous society that lived in the sky and possessed godlike powers.
