Update: The issue has now been resolved, and users should be able to login without problems. In the early days of Pokemon GO server outages and login problems were pretty much a daily occurrence. Things have gotten much better on that front now that the game has worked through most of its growing pains, but, like all online games, it still has its problems. Today, that problem is keeping Pokemon Trainer Club players from logging in and starting the egg hatching event. There isn't a very big different between the two options, except that when one of the two services crashes. In this case, Google logins still work, while PTC players are locked out of the game. Niantic is aware of the issue, but, unfortunately, players are stuck in a bit of a waiting game.

Note about child accounts: Linking multiple login providers is not available for child accounts. Trainers with child accounts will not see the option in the Settings menu. Important note if you play other Niantic games: Account linking and unlinking takes effect across all Niantic products. Unlinking a login provider that is used for multiple Niantic games will unlink the login provider for all of those games. Follow the prompts to link your account. After you unlink, you will no longer be able to sign into your account using that login provider. Note that you cannot remove the login provider you used to sign into your current gameplay session. You may update your Google, Apple, Facebook login providers at any time. To do so, unlink the account you no longer want, and re-link your desired account. Keep in mind that to do so, you will need to have a secondary login linked from one of these login providers, as you are unable to unlink all login methods from your account at one time. Back in November, Niantic made changes on how trainers would log in to the service. As a way of enticing trainers to do more, those who validate or link their PTC account get to receive Timed Research which offer a Super Incubator and 1, Stardust as rewards. Today we'll look into how validate and link an existing PTC account. By the way, it's important to remember that the PTC account used to validate has to match the account linked with the Niantic Profile. Trainers who logged in to their PTC account using the new method may not see the option to validate. If this happens, the Timed Research should automatically be completed and the rewards can be claimed immediately.
