After a friendly battle with Captain Ilima, you can head north to Route 2 on your way to Verdant Cavern. Go up Route 2 and you will encounter Beauty Krystal. She has a level 9 Gastly. It's weak to Ghost, Psychic, and Dark attacks. The man standing near the grass will tell you about shaking grass. From there, you can go north up the ramp. If you go southeast from the top of the ramp, you will reach the Hau'oli Cemetery. She has a level 9 Pikachu. Talk to the man at the bottom right to battle Gentleman Stanley. He has a level 9 Makuhita. Go through the grass at the bottom-right of the graveyard and follow the path to get TM Confide. Talk to the guy in the upper part of the graveyard to battle Office Worker Jeremy. He has a level 9 Diglett.

A Motel, Hau'oli Cemetery and the Berry fields are located along the route. Route 2 is a seaside path connecting the southern and northern parts of Melemele Island and serves as a training area for many local Trainers. The northern end is initially blocked off by a barricade, which are moved aside once the player has cleared Ilima 's trial at the Verdant Cavern. Team Skull Boss Guzma 's home is located on this route. Doing so makes him challenge the player to a battle at the Hau'oli City Beachfront, where he then moves to in order to wait for their arrival. Depending on whether Ilima declares them successful or not, the player has to either open the barricade for them or leave it unopened.
