Every year, Kin Canada receives written submissions from each district for consideration in the National Quill Award competition. Our passions help in defining who we are and with this, also work to shape our value systems. Passion, in how it helps to shape and drive us, is a fantastic base in which to grow and prosper. But is there a dark side?

In , during my military contract, I learned about Sober October, a day challenge that originated in Australia in as "OcSober". I didn't think that I had a problem with alcohol, I could stop using it anytime I like and decided to join the challenge Honestly, it was harder than I thought it would be. Drinking is so heavily ingrained in our culture — it is everywhere! Mimosas at brunch, wine with dinner, beer in the evening, etc.
