I had hesitantly changed from Oral B to Philips when my daughter raved about her Smart Brush and then a year later, philips sonicare toothbrush not working, the brush just stopped vibrating. My Oral B toothbrush was working fine, but after one week at a new house it slowly died. Perhaps the new toothbrushes are fully charged so after 12 minutes the charging shuts off?

You could borrow their charger and also try charging their brush on your charger. If holding the toothbrush, lights facing up, depress two prongs in either side inside of the toothbrush.
