It seems there is a strong consensus towards casters, at least before a certain level, which seems to vary from 5 to 9, being very underwhelming to play, especially compared to martials. But how do the various casters compare to each other?
If they gear towards that thing, like all classes can do, then they become VERY good at those things, pf2e classes. An argument could be made for warpriest being Tier 2.
Before I go on another 2 pager rant on another thread about how people complaining that wizards aren't as powerful is redundant and non-factual, I thought I would revive the Tier list system that had gotten such lively debate in the pf1e days. This is an exercise that is meant to compare those rankings using the same metrics that were used in previous editions, but it is also meant to show how much the gap has narrowed in the edition shift. I expect a lot of comments, some perhaps unkind, in the post, so I would remind you to stay civil, and to pay attention to the metrics used. Combat is not the only mode of pf2e, and while skill feats make characters VERY versatile, they are locked into your character build. A character that can adequately address any challenge through a daily shift in their abilities is more versatile than one who needs 3 weeks to reshuffle their skill feat. To quote the original list:. The Eidolon allows you to change your role within the party, allowing your dynamic duo to serve as a Defender, Scout, and Striker, while the Summoner can serve as a Face with some light Blaster, Healer, and Support options from their Bounded Spellcasting. Keep in mind the role you want your Eidolon to play, and look for options which clearly play to that role. The complexity in the Summoner comes from managing their action economy.
