Throughout all series, Percy and Annabeth have shown many romantic feelings for each other, mainly in The Last Olympian and The Battle of the Labyrinth , though Annabeth shows it more than Percy, and Percy just thinks about it instead. When Percy wakes up, he describes Annabeth as a "pretty girl, her blond hair curled like a princess". During their quest , Annabeth and Percy both feel awkward at stepping into the Tunnel of Love. They eventually go in, which leads to Percy saving Annabeth from the spiders that are part of the trap designed by Hephaestus to catch Ares and Aphrodite. Later, with the help of Ares, the three hop on a truck heading west, and Annabeth and Percy talk about the possibility of war between the gods while Grover sleeps. They briefly talk about their personal backgrounds mainly of their godparents , and Percy asks her that if the gods do go to war, would Poseidon and Athena be on opposite sides like they were during the Trojan War. Annabeth admits she does not know but would fight alongside Percy regardless as they were friends. When going into the Underworld in the boat, Annabeth takes hold of Percy's hand to make sure she's not the only one alive and Percy said he normally would've been embarrassed, but he was not at the time. Annabeth begins to show slight feelings for Percy and vice-versa; though, more Percy less than Annabeth- for now.

Being entirely new to mythological fights, it was impressive he could kill such a large beast, especially when he was only introduced to the world of gods and monsters just minutes ago. After their many disagreements in The Lightning Thief , this scene in Sea of Monsters truly cements the friendship and trust between Percy and Annabeth. In the beginning, Nico is a bright-eyed and curious kid. He asks Percy a few too many personal questions, but Percy has fun talking with him anyway. From then on, Nico becomes a semi-antagonist and someone Percy can only count on some of the time. In the end, though, Percy never gives up on trying to make it up to Nico and allowing them to become friends again. The last book in the series is both dark and heartwarming, as the series starts to come to a close and Percy is dealing with the consequences of earlier quests. In The Last Olympian , Percy struggles with himself after learning that he must fulfill the most frightening prophecy yet, but he takes this burden and makes the best of it when he can. Considering the fact that Percy escapes death in nearly every scene of this book, the entire Battle of Olympus and everything surrounding it was highly memorable. But they laugh and try to avoid the other campers at Camp Half-Blood by jumping into the lake and sharing a sweet kiss to end their difficult summer.
