This morning after checking the code and doing some research I cleaned the gas filler tube real well with some steal wool with some paper towels in the tube to keep junk from going into the tank. Also cleaned the gas cap itself real well. I then cleared the code to see what happens next. The gas cap was by far the 1 problem I found online so I am hoping it is as simple as that. If the code comes back I will buy a new cap next. I just wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem and the other fixes you might have found. Also where is the purge valve located so that I can check it out and trace the vacuum lines to see if any of those are cracked or loose? Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions. After cleaning the cap and filler tube and then clearing the code, it has now been 10 days and the check engine light has not come back on. Hopefully this was the solution. I will try cleaning my cap well now.
