Ozzfest is an annual music festival tour of the United States and sometimes Europe and later Japan, featuring ozzfest 1998 by ozzfest 1998 heavy metal and hard rock musical groups. Over the years, a variety of bands have made up the yearly lineups of Ozzfest , a yearly heavy metal music festival that usually tours the United States in summer. The Columbus show was cancelled when Osbourne lost his voice. Ozzy's band as well — they were nice people. When they [the audience] were told that we weren't going to be playing at the end and Ozzy wasn't going to be showing up, they just fucking wrecked the place… We had to reschedule it [for July 1]. Some 39, fans were at the hour, six-stage, band event. Just before the tour, Soulfly took the place of Ministry amidst a management changeover.

The first Ozzfest was not a national tour, but rather a two-day festival held in Phoenix, Arizona , and Devore, California , on 25 and 26 October respectively. In , there were large protests outside of the festival to cancel Marilyn Manson 's performance. However, no dates were cancelled. There were also protests of a similar nature in , following the Columbine High School massacre , which some groups had blamed on Marilyn Manson. In , Ozzfest ventured outside the United States for the first time into the United Kingdom, which featured a different line-up of bands.

In some of its touring years, the festival has also featured dates in Europe. The show was founded by legendary hard rock musician Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne, his wife, in , and has since become one of the biggest heavy-metal and rock festivals in the world, drawing fans who enjoy the same type of music heard on the Warped Tour or the Gathering of the Juggalos. The Ozzfest tour features a wide variety of heavy metal and hard rock bands. The different styles of music highlighted during the tour include hardcore punk, black metal, industrial, thrash metal, alternative metal, and death metal. Metalheads everywhere are welcome here and OZZfest is no different.

Back in the idea that a festival solely consisting of metal bands could be a success was considered laughable, but, as is the norm, the mainstream grossly underestimated the dedication and passion of fans of heavy music.
