Captain Olimar is a Hocotatian from the planet name Hocotate who stars in the Pikmin series. He was originally created by Shigeru Miyamoto for Pikmin. Olimar had his first adventure in Pikmin during which he crashes on an unexplored planet named PNF He soon discovered that the planet's atmosphere is toxic to him and most of its biosphere is hostile towards him. He estimate that he has 30 days to repair his ship before his space suit can no longer protect him. With the help of the native Pikmin , he manages to save himself and return to the planet later during Pikmin 2 and Pikmin 3 with a working ship and the goal to gather its treasures to save his company from Bankruptcy. Both Pikmin and the Onions are named after famous foods Olimar often ate on Hocotate. These Red Pikmin that he discovered were able to reproduce more Pikmin with Olimar's help.
