This is one of my favourite Ghanaian meals. It is delicious, warming, savoury and guaranteed to be one of your favourite Ghanaian dishes too. It is often made with poultry, stewing hen and smoked turkey but you can definitely make this with other meats like beed, nkate nkwan, lam, goat nkate nkwan. The poultry or meat is seasoned, steamed and a tomato and onion based broth is added to this and of course a peanut butter groundnut mixture.

Several African communities share this same recipe. However, this is indigenous to the Hausa people from Northern Ghana. I used a combination of goat meat and chicken in this recipe, but you can use plain chicken breast, beef or any meat at all. They make peanut butter from groundnuts, and we buy them from major grocery stores or supermarkets around the world. In Nigeria, we call it groundnut soup. I am yet to comprehend the difference between groundnut and peanut, :lol.
