Dimensions : H: 3. A set of twenty one craftsman-carved softwood figures from Italy for the Christmas celebrations in a Church or at home. They are accompanied by the three Wise Men, the Shepherds with some of their flock, plus the Angel Gabriel - who has an eyelet fitted at the rear so that he can be suspended above the scene; along with various other animals such as Goats, a Camel and Donkey. This wonderful set of carved wooden creations were crafted in Italy we believe by the company Faffaello who still create these same items today - although it appears that the modern day ones are not quite to the same standard of workmanship. The collection was the prize possession of the late Mother of a French friend of ours, who had this set for herself and a similar one that she had purchased for her daughter while on her many trips to Italy - and in particular Rome, on pilgrimages.

Featured here are Christmas Nativity manger scenes with the baby Jesus. Most are vintage postcards. Included are an assortment of images showing the holy family in the stable, an adorable image of the baby Jesus in the manger surrounded by angels, and my favorite of the infant in a wooden manger being watched over by a white dove. I could see them printed and framed as a display on a holiday mantle. This Antique Card shows a beautiful vintage Nativity Scene with the Baby Jesus lying in the straw filled manger with three Angel Children gazing at him! The background is filled with stars and the Christmas Star shines with rays glowing around the infant. This Old Christmas Glory Manger Scene Image is a brightly colored Nativity vignette with baby Jesus resting peacefully in the manger as his parents, shepherds, Wisemen, and animals look on. Hay is strewn about the stable and gifts are present. I love the ancient bagpipes in the foreground.
