Ocellus is a female changeling and one of the " Young Six " who appears in season eight of the show as a student at Twilight Sparkle 's School of Friendship. In zoology, "ocellus" is a term for a simple eye or eyespot, such as on invertebrates, or an eye-like marking such as on a peacock's feathers. In the season eight premiere "School Daze - Part 1" and "Part 2", Ocellus enrolls in Twilight Sparkle's School of Friendship as a student, having been brought to Ponyville by Thorax to represent the changelings. In her debut, she behaves shyly, avoids talking to others, and frequently keeps her real form hidden, only dropping her disguises at Thorax's insistence. When Twilight's strict adherence to the Equestria Education Assocation's guidelines causes the school courses to be dull and boring, Ocellus cuts class with Sandbar, Gallus, Smolder, Yona, and Silverstream, becoming good friends with them in the process. When they return to school for Friends and Family Day, they accidentally ruin the event and cause damage to the school.

By FlareGun45 , User May 20, The closest we got was Ocellus having the form of Chrysalis in the episode "What Lies Beneath" cause of the fear of becoming her. That's interesting actually, cause why didn't Ocellus just fear of becoming her old changeling self that we never saw? Why specifically Chrysalis? Normally, the only time a young individual fears of becoming someone, like their parent, or sibling, or close friend, or any type of mentor figure, is because they were close to them, at least at one point. Were they? Did they actually have some kinda close bond we never knew about? Something like, Chrysalis saw potential in Ocellus to become her successor, so they got close, and Chrysalis taught her alot of what she knew? But then that all got ruined after Starlight interfered, and Thorax become the new leader. Then Thorax specifically chose Ocellus to go to the School of Friendship.

Sandbar offers to help the group study, and they head off to the school's library. There, while they study, they find Cozy Glow working on sorting books in the library. As they talk about their fears about the test, she goads the non-pony students about being at a disadvantage at learning friendship and having used up Sandbar's time. Sandbar tells the others he's been more than happy to help but the group is left with some resentment. As they continue to study, they hear a noise deeper in the library, and find branches pushing up through a grate.
