Nathaniel Essex was born in Victorian England during the 19th Century. He was obsessed mr sinister Charles Darwin's Theory of Evolution. Although he was genuinely passionate about his work, he also cared a great deal for his wife Rebecca Essex and their son, mr sinister. Disaster struck when their son died, aged four, of various birth defects.

Created by writer Chris Claremont , the character was first mentioned as the employer behind the team of assassins known as the Marauders in The Uncanny X-Men December , and later seen in silhouette in The Uncanny X-Men , with both issues serving as chapters of the " Mutant Massacre " crossover. His appearance was designed by artist Marc Silvestri. A villain who usually prefers to act through agents and manipulation, Mr. Sinister is born Nathaniel Essex in Victorian London. A human scientist, Essex is inspired by the work of his contemporary Charles Darwin and becomes obsessed with engineering humanity into a perfect race of superhumans. As he learns about mutants superhuman beings born with the X-gene , Essex encounters the mutant villain Apocalypse.

His theories were mocked, making him bitter. He approached many groups in search of funding, including the Hellfire Club , though all turned him down. He hired a group of thugs, whom he named Marauders, to kidnap people off the streets of London so he could perform experiments on them; he even went so far as to dig up his dead son and experiment on him. A geneticist of unparalleled genius, he foresaw the coming mutations that would transform mankind. However, his unorthodox experiments resulted in his ouster from the Royal Society and caused his wife to shun him. These rejections led him to ally himself with Apocalypse, an immortal mutant who has witnessed virtually the whole of human history. Apocalypse transformed Essex into an ageless being of extraordinary pallor at the cost of what remained of his humanity. In fact, Madame Sanctity of the Askani had sent Cyclops and Jean to the past to ensure the transformation, as Sinister was necessary for the birth of Cable. The plague Sinister created attacked only Apocalypse, driving him into hibernation. Soon after, he left for The United States. Sinister has conducted numerous experiments in his time.

Once a year, a Mister Essex would come and visit her, though he would never admit to anyone not even himself why. While Sinister has succeeded in his quest to eliminate Apocalypse, this has mr sinister no means ended his task. Telekinesis : possesses telekinetic abilities enabling him to levitate and manipulate living beings, inanimate objects, and to some extent energy, mr sinister, psionically.

Nathaniel Essex, a brilliant scientist and geneticist, dedicating his his life's work to create the perfect mutant. Because of his work and of his mutant powers, Sinister was the first Apocalypse brought in his fold, and the first Horsemen as well. Sinister was at Apocalypse's side when they witnessed the battle that killed Charles Xavier. It was the same day Apocalypse declared his war on humankind. During these early days of his partnership with Apocalypse, Sinister adopted two brothers with exceptional mutant abilities. The Summers brothers, Alex and Scott , were the closest Essex had found to genetic perfection. Scott's genes were of particular interest to Sinister; he hoped to one day use them to create the most powerful mutant on the planet. When the Summer's father Christopher returned to Earth from being in space Sinister covered up his return. He ran tests on him for five years when it was discovered that he was infected with a Brood embryo.

Mister Sinister was an Apocalypse-genetically created mutant hellbent on creating the perfect X-gene clone. Nathaniel Essex was born at Milbury House on the outskirts of London. As a child, Nathaniel traveled to Greenwich Park, south of the River Thames in London, and was amazed by the endless number of people, walking what he believed to be preordained paths for them. Essex believed that the sanctity and purity of it was Heaven on Earth.

The team agreed and started kidnapping more people from the streets to act as test subjects on mutation. Years after Sinister's time back at Oxford, and during the time that Charles Xavier is first befriending Magneto while both are living in Israel, a version of the heroic mutant Hank McCoy from an alternate timeline known as the " Age of Apocalypse " enters the mainstream Marvel reality. She then expands upon her own origins, stating that the process of becoming what she is left her with vague, but invasive memories of Essex's life and that as a malignant presence within her mind, he is slowly killing her as a means of self-ressurection, he even manages to manifest briefly before being re-absorbed back into her. Mister Sinister spent most of his life scheming ways to break free from his designer, Apocalypse.

She is later temporarily corrupted, causing the Phoenix Force itself to become a corrupt and deadly entity. Months passed, filled with degrading examinations; affected pity gave way to foul contempt.
