A lot of people, quite reasonably, didn't pay much attention to April Fool's Day this year. I certainly didn't, so I only vaguely noticed Mojang announcing a Minecraft update that would give the game infinite, Enter-The-Spiderverse-Style dimensions to explore. It was cute, I figured, but not really the most convincing fake announcement. Alas, though, it turns out I was the April Fool all along: not only was the promised update completely real, but you can still play it, and it's utterly astonishing. It's very simple to do. Just go to the 'Installations' tab of yer Minceraft launcher, then hit the "new" button, and scroll til you find "Snapshot20w14Infinite". Cook yourself up a world for quick results, set it to creative mode, and once you're in, set yourself up with a nether portal, and a stack of book-and-quills.

Most companies should probably just avoid April Fool's jokes this year, but some companies are taking the chance to have some lighthearted fun. Mojang is no exception, with a new snapshot rolling out for players on Minecraft: Java Edition right now. This snapshot is different than usual, and doesn't feature anything from the Nether Update. Instead, nether portals pull double duty as a gateway to your favorite fiery dimension, as well as to essentially infinite random worlds in Minecraft. All you have to do is write some words in a book presumably this will work similarly to Minecraft's seed generator, in that you can be "random" but there is a process to it, and toss your newly completed novella through the nearest nether portal. The portal should shift colors slightly, and when you walk through it you should be transported to We're not really sure what to expect here, since Mojang's examples are bizarre and creepy, and I'm sure Mojang chose the more demure of the lot to show off. There's sure to be a lot of fun here, as this one individual who discovered the "F" dimension found out for themselves. Mojang says there are over two billion possibilities, although I'm not sure anyone will actually be able to quantify that.

A blob of redstone components and mineral blocks from the "busy" easter egg dimension. This page uses many images. However, you don't need such a key by default. Acknowledgements I appreciate BasiqueEvangelist for helping with runtime dimension registration and his permission to port a part of his code. Why not do what I did, and rudely replace a villager's entire bedroom wall with a swirling gateway to madness? Contains a secret message when entered using the correct passphrase. Knowing that Mojang had hardcoded several easter egg dimensions into the otherwise random generation procedure for this update, I felt sure that "Chronicles Of Riddick" would unlock one of them. For now, lemme show you the wonders I saw just from typing five snippets of complete bullshit into books: 1: "Awooga" Business Secrets Of The Pharaohs. World size test 1 2 Huge levels.
