Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach - Ruin is a free DLC that takes place a few years after the base game, and it's no surprise that it features new characters. However, even new characters can have connections to old characters in the FNAF universe, and that seems to be the case this time as well. Despite being new, two characters introduced in Ruin could connect back to the founding of Fazbear Entertainment. Of course, the Pizzaplex is filled with animatronic threats, some of which players have seen in the base game. However, characters in FNAF have a tendency to show up in different forms across games, making their past identities unclear at first glance. It appears in the Tales from the Pizzaplex novels Lally's Game and Nexie as a creation of Edwin Murray, who was so busy with his work that he created a robot to play with his young son, David. The Mimic was programmed to copy David's actions, which earned the robot its name and kept David entertained by copying his actions and learning from him. But a robot that was harmless and made to be a friend to a child sounds far different from The Mimic in Ruin that chases after Cassie with the intent to kill her. In short, David ends up dying young because his ball rolls into the road, and he's hit by a car trying to retrieve it. Edwin is overcome with grief at the loss of his young son, and The Mimic acting like David, from whom it learned its behaviors, infuriates him.
