All Posts. The Australia and New Zealand Matific Olympiad is a friendly online maths competition aimed at improving students' confidence and maths skills. The competition is open to all primary school-aged students in Australia and New Zealand. There are many reasons why your class and school should participate in The Matific Olympiad. This is a great opportunity for teachers and parents to get children excited and motivated to learn maths in a fun and interactive environment that encourages exploration and critical thinking skills. Students participating in the Matific Olympiad need to complete maths activities using the app or desktop version of the platform to earn stars or points. The more activities students complete and the better they score, the more stars they earn. To provide a variety of ways to win prizes, the competition has three separate categories: Schools, Classes, and Students. At the end of the competition, the top three schools with the highest average of stars will be awarded cash prizes. Participating classes with the highest average of stars will also be eligible for prizes, as will individual students who have earned the most stars compared to their peers.
