Why brass? Well, it's very dense, and adding density to a speaker housing helps isolate vibrations. Metals also impart their own particular resonance. Brass in particular "sings," proponents will tell you, citing the fact that trumpets, tubas, and sackbuts are made of brass—though they'll leave out the part where actual science explains how it makes the music in your tiny in-ear headphones sound empirically better. Maybe because the gains are immeasurable? I don't know, so I'll leave it at this: Brass is a luxurious material that feels much better than plastic or aluminum, and it looks like serious business. It will probably look even better over time as it develops a patina, like your Apple Watch Edition. But my god, that weight! I've seen brass in-ears before—namely the Vibe Brass Balls , which are popular among audio nerds despite being heavy and unwieldy.

Surprisingly, I have not been familiar with their earphones. The ME05 Earphones are made of brass and they look it. So, no surprises there. The earphones have some weight to them and I was initially worried that this weight would make the earphones more difficult to stay in my ear. Nothing could be further from the truth. Another welcome surprise are ear tips that fit!

Those headphones left us rather impressed, especially when you consider that they haven't been in the headphone market as long as more established competition like Sennheiser and Beyerdynamic. The attention to detail throughout their line doesn't stop at just the headphones themselves. They offer some of the most stunning accessories and packaging, and rather than targeting a niche audience of audiophiles; they have chased down the mainstream buyer with hopes of denting some of Apple's Beats line market share. So I am curious to see how their flagship earphone, the ME05, performs in this review. The earphones are dynamic driver-based, 8mm titanium diaphragms, and the housing is constructed out of brass as opposed to the more common aluminum and plastic earphones you see at this price point. They are widely available across several high street stores as well as being easy to purchase online. They are targeted as a premium consumer earbud and will compete directly with many big-name brands that occupy this space. Master and dynamic have wrapped the ME05 up beautifully, and it truly feels like a premium product from the minute you open the box.
