Originally from Oregon, Deal has come to fully embody the spirit of Fort Morgan and her love for its people, buildings and history runs deep through her veins. Deal first discovered her love for historic preservation when she and her husband bought a historic house on Sherman Street in Fort Morgan. They wanted to restore the house, and this put Deal in touch with the profession of historic preservation and allowed her to become involved with the Colorado Historical Society, now called History Colorado. She loved the work so much and the idea of bringing back pieces of history that she began to take classes and went on to do a register of historic places and buildings throughout the county.
