While the school did not officially state that the team would be a Division I program in , multiple news reports indicate the program was on track to secure the needed funding. Furthering the potential viability of the team is its current home, the Centene Community Ice Center. Lindenwood opens the season with four games on the road starting on Saturday, October 7, with a two game-series against Air Force. With the victory, Lindenwood became the first men's hockey program this century to earn their first Division I win after trailing by two or more goals. The Lions remain on the road through October closing the month with a visit to the University of Michigan, who made a Frozen Four appearance last season. The following weekend the Lions will host Long Island University November , the Sharks compiled a record last season. Lindenwood concludes the first half of the season, with a visit to Kalamazoo, Michigan to take on the Western Michigan University Broncos ranked 11 overall with a record and NCAA tournament appearance a year ago.
