Collecting Lilliput Lane cottages has taken Ros Jack all over the country in her quest to unearth more information about each one, and has expanded into a hobby involving photography and scrapbooking. What do you collect — and what got you started? I started when my elder daughter was looking for something for a wedding anniversary present about six years ago. That was nearly six years ago and each year I receive a cottage as part of my membership. Birthdays and anniversaries followed and my collection has grown steadily. My husband has even bought me a couple of pastille burners. When we have been on holiday or visited a specific place that happens to have a cottage I will also buy those. They are beautiful, I must admit, but the Cumbrian cottages lend themselves to the models because they are very rugged. There are only so many thatched cottages you want. I now have 23 Cumbrian cottages and 48 cottages all together.

To that end, Tate and assistant sculptor Tom Raine spent several weeks touring Germany, searching for potential models for a proposed German collection. The Castle Collection was about fantasy, a mixture of Arthurian legend, pseudo-Medieval poetry, and pop psychology. All of the castles were produced and painted in the Penrith facility, and were made of Amorphite. Every model had its own poem, creating a six-poem cycle of one continuous — if slightly baffling — story. This original group of castles was retired by December, As the company prospered, especially with the expanding North American market, a decision to diversify was made in It had 20, square feet of manufacturing space, and employed a work force of people. During a trip to Annapolis in , David Tate came across some work by a brilliant fantasy sculptor named Hap Henriksen. Tate tracked him down, and at the same time, found another fabulous sculptor — Real Musgrave.
