Last week, my signed copy of " How to Win At Chess: the ultimate guide for beginners and beyond ", written by Levy Rozman, aka GothamChess, arrived in the post! And I'll declare straight up - I am a fan of Levy! When I got back into chess during the pandemic, I had two major inspirations. First was the amazing Queen's Gambit Netflix series, which got me back into playing some online games. The second was in fact Levy's YouTube channel in those early days! In addition to finding his content fun and entertaining, I found his early instructional content very useful in terms of learning to improve.

I will be buying a hard copy version because it's an excellent reference and I personally find it much easier to view board layouts and move sequences on printed pages rather than on my ebook. An attractive and readable chess book. The pacing and flow of the book are nothing short of perfection. In essence, in the book Rozman tends to describe and show, rather than explain and explore. Hard to figure out with a board and pieces at hand. I discovered his GothamChess YouTube channel by accident recently, and became totally engrossed. In general I like some interactive trainings that you can follow after scanning QR code. Of course, the author also teaches us how to win at chess by teaching us basic openings, standard tactics, simple endgames and beginner strategies. I've been a fan of Levy's for years - and have been looking forward to it since the moment it was announced.
