The Ministry of Education's Student Success Strategy helps students in Grades 7 to 12 customize their education to their individual strengths, goals and interests. Through our school programs, the Board is committed to equipping all students with the knowledge, skills, attitudes and experiences they need for successful outcomes that will ensure smooth transitions to the post-secondary destinations of their choice. In Limestone, we value every program pathway that students follow to find meaningful careers and become valued members of our society. Our goal is to support students in high levels of achievement in programs that lead toward their life destinations. A program pathway is a selection of credits and experiences a student may create or choose in secondary school in one of four possible post-secondary destinations:. Apprenticeship Programs. There is value in all post-secondary destinations and all sectors of employment.

The board was founded in a provincial reorganization of all Ontario school boards. The board's Chair for is Suzanne Ruttan. The Vice-Chair is Tom Gingrich. The Limestone District School Board serves 21, students at 70 schools and centres, employing 2, teachers and staff. As of September 1, , the board operates 53 elementary schools, 11 secondary schools, the Limestone School of Community Education and other specialized education centres. The community served by each school is indicated in the list below after each school's name. Some students may attend a school outside of the area they reside so that they may take part in a special program. The school board is expecting slowly declining enrollment, particularly of secondary students, until about A provincial full-day kindergarten program is expanding enrolment in all elementary schools and is now available in all elementary schools. The board of trustees of the Limestone District School Board has recently built two new elementary schools and one K high school opened January within the district.
