As an instrument-rated pilot, he also flew himself interstate to southern New South Wales and to northern Tasmania, to provide podiatric surgical services to regional patients. He completed a post-graduate program in podiatric medicine at the California College of Podiatric Medicine at the University of California. In , Dr Kingsford was accepted as a surgical registrar admitted into the podiatric surgeon training program and gained his Fellowship with the Australasian College of Podiatric Surgeons in He worked and studied as a visiting resident at the prestigious Podiatry Institute at the Northlake Medical Centre in Atlanta, Georgia where he later completed their rearfoot and ankle surgery training program. He has also participated in several medical missions in the Philippines and in Vietnam, primarily for the correction of juvenile club foot deformities. He also completed a course in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and participated in biennial update programs. For thirty years, Dr Kingsford presented scientific papers at many conferences and symposiums throughout Australia and internationally, has lectured at several universities, and has continually worked with researchers investigating various aspects of lower limb and foot health.
