Wielded by the main character, Sora , as well as a number of other important characters, the Keyblade is a main part of the battle between Darkness and Light. According to an interview with Tetsuya Nomura, the original weapon shown during development was actually a chainsaw-like weapon. This was eventually scrapped in favor of the Keyblade. Keyblades can only be wielded by chosen individuals who are strong of heart. Shaped like keys, they operate any lock in existence and are imbued with magic and other unique capabilities.

One aspect of the Kingdom Hearts series that's as iconic as the series itself is that of the Keyblade. The Kingdom Key draws out the true power of Sora's Keyblade, even though it is not the strongest Keychain. As such, it is the true form of his Keyblade, which means that it is also the default form of Roxas's and Xion's Keyblades.

Gull Wing: This is a great Keyblade for players who need to grind levels at any point for some of the brutal bosses of Kingdom Hearts 2 due to its experience-enhancing ability. As an optional keyblade, Wishing Star is a great find due to how easy it can land critical hits. During this mission, Roxas let Xion use his Keyblade while he used a stick instead. While it does appear to lower some of Sora's stats, it not only has the best range of any Keyblade in the game, it also provides the best crit bonus of any Keyblade in the game.
