Kerbal delta v map
This mod is not known to work with the latest version of Kerbal Space Program. Proceed with caution.
There's this handy map wiki. I want to find out how much dv I need to get from the surface of the Mun back to Kerbin. Surely it's not the sum of all the numbers counting down from the Mun to Kerbin? That would be the exact same dv as is required to get to the Mun from Kerbin in the first place. Should be much less than that, no?

Otherwise ignore that chart as it is outdated as the new aerodynamics made it obsolite. IT involves a lot of math to figure out by hand. Well in the atmosphere maybe. And speaking of new atmosphere what is the new dV needed to reach orbit now? But in space it should still be the same I think? First, for the way back from Muns surface to Kerbin you need to escape Muns sphere of influnce, so add the numbers from Mun to Mun Intercept. You shouldn't need more than a few hundred DV extra for that. No more pancake rockets!
But, most of my old designs that had no longer have it.

I would suggest an actual change in the format of the delta v map. You could cut off the bottom part with kerbin and put it on the right side with a longer line leading to the rest of the original map. I scaled the image to match the height of KSPedia entries because I'm not a fan of scrolling images. Alternatively you could scale it to the width and scroll. And that scaling down could make reading it without scrolling hard for some people. On the thread about how to add to the KSPedia, someone had done it that way but then could not read it, I suspect he monitor was lower res. It looks like on my monitor by the image does not scale so that is something to think about with that method. That's exactly my plan. I'll make a version of the map specifically for KSPedia, matching its dimensions. I'll make sure to keep all text big enough for any potential low resolution screen.
Kerbal delta v map
By Little Kerbonaut! Hello, currently I am having trouble reading a Delta-V map. You can think of the total deltaV in a rocket as a budget. Each phase of your journey is going to require a piece of that budget. And that's generally how deltaV maps are set up. Each number on a deltaV map usually tells you how much of your total budget you are going to need to use to get to your next destination. The numbers tend to be close to optimal, so you also need to include a small safety margin. I suppose the correct answer is 'any stage'. As bewing mentioned, it's similar to a budget, and in the same vein that, for example, your grocery budget doesn't care whether the money you put into it is what comes out of your wallet first or last, the delta-V budget doesn't care whether the stage that provides the thrust is first or last.

But, most of my old designs that had no longer have it. I usually just drop the periapsis to 45 to 50 km, and let aerobraking take care of the rest. Export Downloads. Want us to email you when it updates? The total is the general Delta-V value needed to reach your destination. The Nukes sure do. Remember Me. I used Kerbal engineer to fast forward till my intercept angle was close to 0 but it didn't seem to matter. The dv's are the same going both ways. No more pancake rockets! You may not use the material for any commercial purposes. Looks pretty spot on, except for the LKO to Kerbin's surface part. Uneventful hours are omitted. I am not the creator or maintainer of this mod.
Sure I will add some more dv because i'm a not so good pilot and i like wasting fuel.
That would be the exact same dv as is required to get to the Mun from Kerbin in the first place. At least when I used the Lv's they seem to be eating moar fuel. The dv's are the same going both ways. But, if I was in 0. How to use it? I would have to go back and find said post. Landing is rarely that efficient. I'd suggest more, as the dV map assumes the most efficient of maneuvers. But from the surface of Eve back to the the edge of Kerbals SOI you will need the total listed along the path.
