In this study it was aimed to examine the objectives in the mathematics curriculum and the tasks related to the data handling content domain from 4th to 8th grade textbooks according to TIMSS cognitive domains.

In this study, mathematical perceptions of secondary school students were tried to be revealed by using drawing technique. Phenomenology model was used in this qualitative design study. Content analysis technique was used to interpret the data, and student drawings were evaluated under five main categories and sixteen subcate-gories. The main categories mentioned are Drawings con-taining the emotions, Drawings containing the views of the students, Drawings containing the relation of mathematics with real life, Drawings for the school environment and Drawings containing the mathematical objects. As a result of the study, it was observed that the student drawings are related with their views on mathematics, their feelings, mathematical objects, school environment and the relation between mathematics and real life categories respectively. Although the students' views and feelings about mathematics are positive in generally, it was observed that their opinions and feelings about learning processes were negative.
