Dr Bate cares for children with all kinds of cancers, but she has a particular interest in Wilms kidney tumours and bone and soft tissue sarcomas. Dr Bate been researching infections in children with cancer since , and has published extensively on this topic. She's also been awarded a National Institute of Health Research grant for a clinical trial investigating ways to prevent chickenpox in children with cancer.
