One of my favourite things about this show is how the foundation for everything we see in until Shyam finally leaves is laid out in the first 20 or so episodes. Watch the episode here. Find all the recaps here. The guest look around anxiously, as if the six-foot man might be hiding somewhere in the crowd, and smile when they spot him approaching from another part of the house. He walks right up to Aakash, refusing to make eye contact with anyone - not Nani, not his sister, and certainly not Khushi Kumari Gupta - and somehow, his grim countenance goes unnoticed by everyone except for the aforementioned lady in blue and red. Arnav takes his place next to Aakash, not looking at either of them but flicking his eyes towards Payal twice. The bride and groom turn to complete the rasm and end up butting heads, prompting laughter from the waiting crowd and a joke from Mama -. His gaze is murderous as he takes her in, laughing and smiling while plotting the destruction of everything he holds dear. Everyone else might be too busy or too happy to see it, but Khushi, who is always aware of him, sees it all. His rage, his despair, his disgust. And throughout it all, Arnav stares. She tries to participate in the wedding, tries to smile for her sister, but her eyes keep finding Arnav, who continues to glare at her. That, in the hour or so between him backing her against the mirror and his appearance at the top of the stairs, something has changed in him.

Khushi stumbles into Arnav in Lucknow after mistakenly crashing one of his promotional fashion events. Arnav accuses Khushi of deliberately disrupting the show. Khushi pleads innocence.
