Prakash Jha is one of my favourite directors from Hindi cinema simply because the man is unapologetic about his craft and he goes all out when it comes to depicting raw reality on the big screen. Being a Bihari, I can vouch for the fact that the films he helms are, if not at par, but remain closest to the truth. His crime-political dramas have aged fine and still remain a few of the best ones that have come out of Indian cinema. Here is the list of my favourite films from Prakash Jha, which tells the dark, raw, rugged and real past of Bihar. Gangaajal was a film based on the infamous Ankhphodwa Kaand of Bhagalpur-Bihar when 33 inmates were stabbed in their eyes with a screwdriver and were later blinded after cops acid-bathed their eyes. The film was a commercial as well as a critical success and got numerous nominations for national and international awards. Apharan is still one of the most iconic films and one of my favourites by Prakash Jha.
