And to twist the velvet edition bershka, tieflings know that this is because a pact struck generations ago infused the essence of Asmodeus, overlord of the Nine Hells and many of the other powerful devils serving under him into their bloodline, infernal legacy 5e. Their appearance and their nature are not their fault but the result of an ancient sin, for which they and their children and their children's infernal legacy 5e will always be held accountable. Tieflings might not have an innate tendency toward evil, but many of them end up there.

This basic version of the Tiefling had several amazing racial abilities in addition to fantastic lore involving their biological connections to the Lower Planes. Tieflings could be born of a relationship between a Fiend and a Humanoid or come about after their parent or grandparent made a deal with an infernal creature. While originally there was only one option for Tiefling characters, Wizards of the Coast expanded on the race with Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes. The book included nine uniquesubraces for the Tiefling, each based on the bloodlines of different greater Fiends. Each subrace replaces the secondary ability score increase and changes the spells in the Tiefling's innate spellcasting, allowing players to customize their Fiendish character.

Ability Score Increase. Your Intelligence score increases by 1, and your Charisma score increases by 2. Thanks to your infernal heritage, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray. Infernal Legacy. You know the Thaumaturgy cantrip. Once you reach 3rd level, you can cast the Hellish Rebuke spell as a 2nd-level spell; you must finish a long rest in order to cast the spell again using this trait. Once you reach 5th level, you can also cast the Darkness spell; you must finish a long rest in order to cast the spell again using this trait. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells. With your DM's approval, you can choose one of several subraces for your character. These subrace traits replace the Ability Score Increase feature and the Infernal Legacy feature, except the Variant subrace. Since not all tieflings are of the blood of Asmodeus, some have traits that differ from those in the Player's Handbook. The Dungeon Master may permit the following variants for your tiefling character, although Devil's Tongue, Hellfire, and Winged are mutually exclusive.

Thanks to your infernal heritage, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. If you roll the same spell or cantrip you gained at the end of your previous long rest, roll again until you get a different result. These are now tied infernal legacy 5e DnD backgrounds.
