O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs is the public policy and environmental studies school of Indiana University with locations on both the Bloomington and Indianapolis campuses. The Management major prepares students for a variety of roles in the public, nonprofit, and business sectors. Students will learn about topics such as project management, management theory, quantitative analysis, human resource management, finance, and more. Coursework is also offered in related areas, such as the environment, health resources, domestic and international policy, budget deficits, and crisis communications. Students learn to manage projects and people, preparing to lead organizations that address persistent societal problems. Before graduating, all students in this major are required to participate in a professional field experience, giving them an opportunity to begin building their professional credentials. O'Neill was founded as a response to the needs and problems of modern society—needs that were not being addressed by other more traditional schools such as business, arts and sciences, or political science.
