Ikea kitchen worktops

We are looking to move in the not to distant future but whilst out kitchen isn't dreadful the worktops definitely need replacing. We have a tiny budget. We thought we would get Ikea worktops, ikea kitchen worktops, but the longest length is cm.

If you have an ikea kitchen where did you get your worktops from? Ikea worktops seem too short from what I need. The solution is to get a length of 2X2 wood, available from any hardware shop, that measures the length of the worktop you will need. Using screws and glue join it to the worktop, with the joined bit facing the wall. Then glue the extra laminate strips that come with the worktop on top of the 2x2 wood to effectively extend the worktop by 2 inches. If you do it carefully the join should be seamless.
