Both civilians and Orchis Agents alike were quick to question how it was possible for the deceased X-Man to miraculously return from the dead after such a gruesome end.

The Fall of X has begun. With the cataclysmic events of this year's Hellfire Gala now in the rearview, the tumultuous new era of the Krakoan Age is fully underway. Mutantdom is scattered, and the anti-mutant, fascist regime Orchis is stronger than ever. The X-Men have never fallen so far so quickly, and that status quo shift leads to exciting new storytelling possibilities. One such story is focused on the Omega-level X-Man Bobby Drake -- aka Iceman -- as he dives into heroism with more vigor than ever before. The Hellfire Gala left mutantkind, especially Iceman, in a very bad state. As this issue unfolds, it's revealed how Iceman has found himself in his current predicament, what his link to his Antarctic Palace is, and what the general nature of his battle against Orchis is. Iceman's status as an Omega-level mutant is a major focus of the book. It's crucial to Iceman as he continues to evolve his powers, and it's a key reason why Orchis is so focused on him. Orlando does an excellent job of continuing to showcase the banality of evil through Orchis.

Iceman's powers scare him on some level, and his jokey attitude has been hinted as being a facade - a means of coping with the apocalyptic abilities at his fingertips.
