The show follows the life of a teenage girl named Sydney Novak, played by Sophia Lillis, who is struggling to cope with the loss of her father, her sexuality, and her newly discovered supernatural abilities. Sydney is an introverted teenager who's constantly dealing with her family problems and her own insecurities while trying to navigate her way through high school. She lives in a small town in Pennsylvania with her younger brother Liam and her mother Maggie, who's struggling to make ends meet since her husband's passing. As Sydney tries to cope with her grief and navigate her way through high school, things get even more complicated when she realizes that she has telekinetic powers. She can move objects with her mind, and this power grows stronger as she discovers her feelings for her best friend Dina, played by Sofia Bryant.
