Mages are those who actively seek knowledge of their Aspect, or actively seek knowledge through it.

Mages are the active knowledge class, paired with Seer and inverting to Heir. In essence, the Mage understands their aspect, similarly to the Seer.

Very little is canonically known about Mages, however in my experience it is a fairly popular class for fans. Mages work to understand their aspect and use that understanding to their benefit. Mages also have the ability to sense futures or hidden secrets relating to their aspect. Mage is a knowledge class like Seer, except that the Mage is the active counterpart to the Seer. So, instead of using their understanding of their aspect to guide their team like a Seer would, Mages would use their aspect to guide themselves. For example, Sollux can hear the voices of imminently deceased and can use their advice to his benefit. Mages tend to suffer great loss, both physically and emotionally. Physically, Mages will often lose a sense to balance out their abilities. For example, Sollux lost his sight and Meulin lost her hearing. Emotionally, Meulin lost her matespiritship to Kurloz. Mages can also be pretty pessimistic, especially because they can sense upcoming futures, which can often be pretty terrible. They share this trait with the Seers. Also, Mages have to be careful to master their aspect, otherwise the aspect can come back to control them. For example, Meulin failed to control her aspect and therefore suffered from major heartbreak and has been unable to rekindle any romances. Mages must learn to understand their aspect and all that is holds for them, otherwise they are likely to slip into a somewhat depressive state.

Furthermore, the word Maid is a homophone of "made", and when someone has a surplus of something, homestuck mage, it is often said that they are "made of" it. Mages also have the ability to sense futures or hidden secrets relating to their aspect. The Maid of Life is one who is more often than not ignorant of the troubles of others around homestuck mage.

At their best, they are deep, optimistic and great teachers to those willing to learn.

When it comes to the social life of the Page, they are quite an interesting figure in the eye of socializing. Dirk is seemingly unable to do this, but his status as a Prince may account for that. Mages do not have it easy, but they can become important guides and allies to those around them, if only they allow themself to step out of their comfort zone and are willing to experience the worst the world, and their Aspect, has to offer. Once a Mage has become extremely knowledgeable in their Aspect is when the Mage may truly shine. Maids may also be the active - counterpart to the Sylph class, being healers or repairers, as Sylph appears to be a healer class.
