Crop plots must be placed under a greenhouse ceiling to receive the bonus. The greenhouse ceiling must receive unobstructed sunlight. The only way to test unobstructed sunlight is to see if you can fill your water jar when standing there during rain.

Because of this, the Greenhouse Effect increases the crop yield per unit of fertilizer. A fully upgraded greenhouse needs to be larger 3x3 or more. Build 2 walls these do not have to be greenhouse , then build Greenhouse Ceilings over the entire area. Sloped or flat does not matter.

I'll try and post results of putting it one tile above tonight. It's shown by looking at all crop plots now even if you don't have a greenhouse tile near it. You can make a larger one but you have to segment it with walls in the aforementioned dimensions.
