The Spike Video Game Awards in short VGAs , known as the VGX for the final show was an annual award show hosted by American television network Spike from that recognized the best computer and video games of the year. Produced by GameTrailers TV's Geoff Keighley , the show featured preview trailers for upcoming games, live music performances and appearances by popular performers in music, movies, and television. Not only did Half-Life 2 blow away every other game in our year end poll, it blew away us as well. A mix of realistic physics, gorgeous graphics, fun gameplay, cool level design, interesting characters and an overall satisfying experience made Half-Life 2 our clear pick for action game of the year. Rome: Total War is an epic strategy game by any definition boasting huge battles, a great historic setting, plus a nice mix of real-time and turn-based strategy. Add in a huge single player campaign, fun multiplayer and skirmish modes, makes Rome: Total War the clear ruler of the strategy genre in We didn't have a rich harvest of single player role playing games released this year, but Troika did a great job with the White Wolf license in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. Powered by the same engine as Half-Life 2, the characters in the game look great, and the atmosphere is to die for. Mix in the replay value of the different Vampire characters -- we have a winner.
