Head west out of Gerudo Valley to enter Gerudo's Fortress, home of all female band of thieves known as the Gerudo. Walk up to any guard and they will throw you in jail. It's time to attempt your escape. The wooden awning in the window above provides a perfect surface for your Longshot to latch onto. From here, you'll need to avoid detection, or you'll be thrown back into the cell.

Gerudo Valley is a blisteringly hot valley located in the northwest corner of Hyrule in Ocarina of Time. It leads to the Gerudo's Fortress , home of the proud female warrior race of Gerudo. During Link 's childhood, the path to Gerudo's Fortress is blocked by Gerudo guards, making it impossible to get to the other side of the valley. Once the young hero retrieves the Master Sword from its pedestal , the bridge spanning across the chasm will have been destroyed by the Gerudo, forcing Link to use either the Longshot or Epona to get across. Inside the carpenters' tent is the Running Man who, after the bridge is repaired, will challenge the Hero of Time to a race to the bridge that leads to the Kokiri Forest. Over the river, there is a small ledge where a box is placed. Link can fly to this spot with the help of a Cucco , and find a Piece of Heart inside the box. The river below the valley is infested with Octoroks as well as giant, rolling boulders. Link can dive into the portion of the river closest to the waterfall, where there is a small platform with a patch of soil where Magic Bean can be planted. Behind the waterfall is a ladder that leads to a ledge with a second Piece of Heart.

Characterized by their mastery of the scimitar and women-centric culture, the Gerudo are most commonly located in sandy and hot deserts, where they flourish despite the desolate environment. In each iteration, the home of the Gerudo gives you an insight into how they live, whether that be through NPCs or how the area looks. Similar to other entries, the Gerudo in Four Swords Adventures reside in a desert area, specifically to the north of the Desert of Doubt. Gerudo Village has a few houses to see, as well as Pieces of Heart to collect. Link can stealthily enter the Fortress, or simply use the Stone Mask to go unseen by the pirates. Completing the mini-dungeon to retrieve four of the stolen Zora eggs is especially fun, as Link must use the Zora mask to swim underwater and fully explore the fortress. Most notably, when you first visit Gerudo Town, the area is barren. The Gerudo people are seeking shelter underground because of the sand shroud and the hordes of Gibdos that populate the desert. The Gerudo also finally recognize what Link has done for them, and allow him into the town as a voe. Of course, in the center is Gerudo Town, home to the Gerudo people, which only allows women to enter its walls.
