F 96 Brake pedal not returning. Thread Tools. Hi everybody, I haven't posted anything on this forum for a while but I have been looking for some information lately. I have an old truck, a Super Duty F with a 5. The pedal will stay down and I will have to use my other foot to bring it back to the normal position. The braking power was still normal. I have this truck for a year and a half, and did some maintenance but nothing about the brake so I had no idea what have been done before. So first thing, I decided to go ahead and replace the brake booster, went to an auto part store and got a refurbished one, installed it and no change. Then after reading online, I decided to replace the master cylinder, installed it and no change, pedal will not return. Then I thought it was coming from the RABS, so I bypassed it with a home made line and adapter, pedal will still not return.
