Their argument was that The Worst is indestructible, which is true, and therefore should fit comfortably in tier 8. So if he didn't absorb the energy what did he do, he first struggled to condense the energy then he cycled through each alien possibly weakening the energy then redirected the blast. So stop saying he can absorb the energy of the Big Bang when he never did to begin with.
