It comes from a deep need to create that has been with me as long as I can remember. Colour is a principle element in my work, applied in layers, and created with an intention to surprise, evoke calming emotions and a sense of joy. Inspired by nature and seasons, signature botanical forms and organic shapes are always present, using a combination of painting processes and techniques. An ethereal quality is often a result of interplaying contrasting colours, harmony between objects and the space around them. I also pay attention to detail to create subtle rhythms. My aim is to create authentic artworks that engage viewers and allow them to connect emotionally. Artworks are created with acrylic paint and water- based mixed media and fall into three categories: still life paintings, landscapes and floral-themed art. The last is the main source of the design and licensing component of my art practice. Follow me on Instagram estemacleod to see updates and new work. I love doing collaborations with a variety of manufacturers and publishers globally. My work has been licensed for use on homeware, ceramics, wallpaper, calendars, stationery, puzzles, picnic-ware, napkins, needlepoint, textile and quilt fabric collections amongst others.
