Dying light volatile
As fans of the original Dying Light will remember all too well, volatiles are arguably Dying Light 2's toughest standard enemy type, dying light volatile. After first encountering them in Markers of Plaguethey'll emerge once you've reached level 3 of a chase or when you're exploring the deepest of dark zonesand shouldn't be fought head-on, especially if you're in the early stages of dying light volatile game.
The Volatile is an infected that only emerges at night. Volatiles are capable of taking several hits from high powered weapons and can quickly cause significant amounts of damage. Volatiles are broad-shouldered and slightly taller than the average Biter. Other physical markers include full-bodied nudity, exposed bone and muscle and a mandible jaw that it uses against non-infected humans. They can audibly be identified by their heavy breathing and loud screeches. Volatiles are extremely fast, and can navigate through the dark at high speeds, matching the agility of the player perfectly, scaling obstacles and buildings in the same manner.

The hives themselves being in the game mode Be The Zombie , with these hives found scattered along the terrain varying from a space in the opening such as a courtyard or even a rooftop. They only appear during the Night during an invasion, and players must fight against the player-controlled Night Hunter to destroy these hives, while the Night Hunter must protect them. They do not appear as actual nests in the Slums or the Old Town i. However they do appear as significant locations in the Countryside and as part of some side-quest objectives. The number of volatiles and virals changes between day and night within the nests; during the day more infected are inside taking refuge from the sun whereas during the night more volatiles have left to 'hunt'. As a result, attacking let alone entering a Volatile Nest during the day is far more dangerous than at night due to heavier numbers of infected in the Nests during the day whilst the activity is very minimal at night. The Night Hunter does not need to be present to find and destroy these nests as the Hunter's objective in Be the Zombie is to protect the hives which are in the open, as opposed to hives which are within the Volatile Nests in the Countryside.

Hives are a group of developing Volatiles which survivors must kill to win a multiplayer match against the Night Hunter. The Hives are found throughout the multiplayer matches when the Night-Hunter invades the survivors game. Hives contain Undeveloped Volatiles which will soon develop unless the survivor kills them. Hives contain large amounts of shredded corpses and sometimes other Virals from biters to goons to even developed Volatiles. They are also seen in The Following. The undeveloped Volatiles within the Hive do not attack the player but can take a large amount of hits depending on the players weapon. But its what's within the hive and what's coming to defend it that can and will attack you. The survivors will often need to kill the inhabitants of the Hive then attack the undeveloped Volatiles while also looking out for the Night hunter. Another strategy is to throw down UV flares next to the hive to weaken it.
