I remember that I had to go the so-called extra mile way back in for getting hold of Die Hard Trilogy on the quiet, since it already had been placed on the German Index - which made it impossible for people under 18 years to buy it legally -, due to much too much violence by splattering blood into every corner of your screen you could have imagined, haha. Even your car windscreen in Die Hard with a Vengeance wasn't spared, which made for the typical over the top reaction by young grown-ups who we had been, roaring with laughter, because it simply looked too grotesque in a positive sense to see how gallon over gallon filled up to the max with red colour was poured out by the developers above our more than pleasantly surprised minds. While Die Hard and Die Harder had been little more than mediocre, yet still respectable PS1 movie adaptions to me, it was Die Hard with a Vengeance however, which put my body deep into the seat of my virtual car - and didn't let go -, until I had finally beaten the game. The motivating voices of McClane and Zeus, the civilians who "crossed" your way over and over, strict time limits, 'head down and charge' crashes, a good virtualization of speed Thanks, Biff, for bringing back those memories of a lifetime! While the PlayStation version set new grounds for multi-genre action, the conversion of this game to the PC simply fails in comparison -- even with the help of 3D acceleration. What was Fox Interactive thinking when they made this game? The so-called 3D graphics are nothing but primitive pieces of polygon This is attributed to mainly the people walking around. They're like blocks of mosaic trash pieced together, crude with tons of glitches. The rest of the graphics are fine, however. The backgrounds and animation is smoother than the PlayStation's. Unfortunately, you'll have to download the patch if you want to play the game over five frames per second! This isn't to say that the game isn't good. The basic design is still there, with all of the elements that made the PlayStation version what it is. The controls are the worst part about the game.

It's not a bad idea for a game and it captures the essence of the original film rather well.

The Die Hard series of films are somewhat obvious candidates for being the basis of a computer game. The combination of violence and terrorists with strange European accidents provides excellent material for an action game. Die Hard Trilogy is a set of three games based on the three films. Bundling three games together in one package initially sounds like a bad idea. Surely you'll end up with three weak games rather than one strong one? However, Die Hard Triology works remarkably well. Each game in turn shall be considered below.

The game is based on the first three installments of the Die Hard series of action movies , with each film entry being represented through a different gameplay genre. The sequel retained the three different playing styles but featured a spin-off storyline that was not connected to the movie series. Die Hard is a third-person shooter. The player battles terrorists and rescues hostages in the Nakatomi Plaza , which is the setting of the first film in the series. Die Hard 2: Die Harder is presented as an on rails-shooter , where the player must stop terrorists who have taken over Dulles Airport from the second film. Players control the crosshair with a gamepad, light gun , or mouse. In Die Hard with a Vengeance , the player goes on a joyride driving a taxicab , sports car , and dump truck throughout all of New York City and is tasked with finding and defusing several explosives before they can go off. The game was developed by a UK-based development studio, Probe Entertainment. The Die Hard with a Vengeance segment was developed first and was intended to be a standalone release, but publisher Fox Interactive insisted that the game should be more closely linked to the films, leading Probe to develop the other two segments. Since Alien Trilogy was being published by Probe's new owner Acclaim Entertainment , technology and experienced personnel were prioritized towards Alien Trilogy , leaving Die Hard Trilogy to be developed by a small team of young programmers and designers working with Probe's oldest equipment.
