Dakota Grill Manchester is the work of former Malmaison owner, Ken McCollough and it is as dark-hued and handsome as the successful boutique hotel chain. Will sparks fly?

The Dakota Grill is a luxurious brasserie and bar housed within the Dakota Manchester boutique hotel. As well as offering a menu of seasonal food and drink in decadent surroundings, it also features the plush Cigar Garden and a private Champagne Room. Expect to feast on 35 day-aged steak, fresh seafood and seasonal dishes in opulent leather booths, accompanied by a menu of classic cocktails. Star dishes include lamb rump with sweetbread, basil and goats cheese, lemon sole with brown shrimp, capers and samphire and prime cuts of British beef. Like organ transplants and lion taming, cooking steak is something best left to the professionals. It's all too easy to start out with a vision of a perfectly seared wagyu fillet and end up with a kitchen full of greasy smoke.

We were also doubly lucky for it to fall on a weekend where my mum was free so we took full advantage and went for a meal without Eva, a rare treat for us! The restaurant feels intimate and cosy, the perfect place for a Sunday lunch or a drink in the bar area. The food is amost fine dining comfort food, delcious feel good food with a fancy twist. We went on a Sunday I am determined to find the best Sunday lunch in Manchester! We had a pretty tough time deciding as we could have eaten the whole thing, the waitress recommended a few things so we plumped for her choices for our starters. Oh and you also get a delicious tomato-y, melted cheesy dip with sourdough bread while your starters are being prepared, the dream. It was such a lovely touch when they could have just recommended one! To start Joe went for the Chicken Liver Parfait that comes with fig jam and brioche which he devoured in a matter of seconds, compliments to the chef. For the main course Joe had Duck Three Ways which he loved, I pinched a bit of seared duck breast and it was delicous. I, of course, went for the Sunday roast. I chose beef and it came with all the trimmings, and I mean ALL the trimmings. Vegetables, roasties, a yorkshire pudding the size of my head, gravy and a massive side of cauliflower cheese. It was basically a yorkshire pudding with all the trimmings!

It has a retractable roof, which was closed on the rainy day we visited. As someone who rarely orders steak, I could see why this is their speciality. Market Your Venue.

Historically I would think of a cheap restaurant in a budget hotel, but with the increase of boutique and luxury hotels across the city has come some of the best restaurants housed within them. One of the most recent additions to the hotel and restaurant scene in Manchester is Dakota Hotel and Restaurant. I recently paid a visit to Dakota Bar and Grill to check out their food offering. Before I went along I obviously checked it out on Instagram. Both with their super chic and luxurious decor, and with the instagrammably delicious food. We headed to Dakota on a chilly Thursday night, after going to view our new apartment in Ancoats for the third time eek! Dakota is situated just a 3-minute walk from Piccadilly Station, and was also a short walk for us from Ancoats.

We were already excited about the cute congratulations plate, so I was in my element when we were presented with two additional, pre-meal courses; an amuse bouche as well as their Venetian Dip.
