I actually love this change, regarding of what many people might say. I use many addons, so the fact that they have made a standalone client for that, is good news to me. No thanks. My sincere hope is that Microsoft comes in and cracks down on companies like this trying to make money off of something that's supposed to be a fun hobby and videogame. Blizzard dropped the ball because they didn't want to be on the hook for supporting third-party addons, so they never made a central hub for them. Meanwhile, Microsoft literally owns GitHub. That's where all addons should be maintained at. With our luck, Microsoft will come in and make things worse and not better, but we can always hope that's not the case.

Seasoned players too might be looking for a new way to manage their WoW addons after Overwolf announced—earlier this year—that it had bought Curseforge from Twitch and would launch its own addon manager. Many players aren't happy with the takeover because of Overwolf's reputation for overzealous ad placement, and are searching for alternatives.
