To make some sense of Courtney and her motives I have made a theory about her untold backstory. Most people act the way they do because of how they were raised. I believe her mother was a cold, judgmental, workaholic law firm owner who treated Courtney as a project rather than a daughter. And of course Courtney adopted this mentality. And when she failed her mother stuck it to her big time. I imagine her father being even worse of workaholic and was almost never around. He showered Courtney with gifts to make up for it.
